Dr. Hamilton to present on reframing our perception of AAE @ ASHA Schools Connect Conference

Are you a school-based speech-language pathologist? Do your students speak African American English? What are your perceptions about the home language they speak?

African American English is often framed in a deficient manner. Often times the negative words used to describe AAE influence how we perceive AAE-speakers. This engaging presentation will assist speech-language pathologists in reframing their understanding of African American English. This perspective is a vital component for effectively working with African American English-speaking children in 21st century education systems.

Come listen to Dr. Hamilton’s talk at the 2019 ASHA Schools Connect Conference in Chicago, IL this July 19-21.
